Local Search Evolution
Our Chris Sherman today wrote a piece on searchenginewatch.com about JudysBook.
JudysBook is a neat coupling of local search and social networking -both growth areas. JudysBook is also representative of the billions to be made by thousands of ventures that are developing throughout the world to capitalize on the coming local search boom. One has to figure that the whole yellow page business is up for grabs. The players in this land rush are the present yellow page owners as well JudysBook and thousands more like it. The real question is this: will another "Google" rise out of the mix or will Google, Yahoo or some other established large Search player capture the local search market?
Jupitermedia CEO Alan Meckler
Alan,
Not sure how I missed this. Thanks for the comment....and question. I'm biased -- of course...but I think the answer to your question is yes.
Yes, large local search companies like judy's book will show up. And yes, yahoo and google will claim market share.
The key point here is :
i) The size of the market is SO BIG that it will provide a diverse landscape for new market entrants
ii) SMEs have complex needs that will require a diverse set of approaches / solutions (hard to make a 1 size fits all offering)
All info you know -- I'd be happy to chat about this if more if you're ever in Seattle -- let's grab coffee.
