Google Desktop Search
I get about 300 emails per day. Spam comprises about 35 percent of the daily load. I have about 40,000 emails in my "messages sent" outlook file. Until recently finding an old or recent sent message was a nightmare. Not anymore. Google's desktop search application is terrific and actually fun to use. Give it a try!
I agree that the Google Desktop Search is pretty great.
I'll also say that if I was in the U.S. intelligence business, I'd be fairly happy to know that I could remotely access (if it was, of course, "justified" for national security reasons ;) the hardrive contents of any person's internet-connected PC on which this new search program was installed...
Of course, if somebody suggested that the Google Desktop Search was not for the paranoid, I'd tend to agree with that point as well.
Alan - switch to a Mac with the Tiger operating system. IMO, their desktop search function - Spotlight - is superior to Google's Desktop search in many respects (size, speed, accuracy etc).
